The Claudia Stone Gallery represents emerging & mid-career contemporary international artists. The gallery also holds significant expertise in Post-War American Art, with a particular focus on the New York School of Abstract Expressionism.
Claudia Stone is an art dealer with over twenty-three years of experience in acquisitions, collection management, and curating with a specialty in New York School of Abstract Expressionism and contemporary art. Her life-long passion for finding and presenting new talent stems from the influence of her father, art collector and gallery owner, Allan Stone, whose eponymous gallery Claudia directed from 1992 to 2011.
As the director of the Allan Stone Gallery, Claudia Stone oversaw important exhibitions, such as Wayne Thiebaud at Allan Stone: 33 years (1994); Willem de Kooning: Liquefying Cubism (1995); Franz Kline: Architecture & Atmosphere (1998); John Chamberlain: Early Works (2003); Alfred Leslie: Expressing the Zeitgeist (2004); John Graham: Sum qui Sum (2005); Wayne Thiebaud: Figures (2008); Willem de Kooning: Drawings (2008).
In addition, Claudia worked with museum curators on significant exhibitions, including Wayne Thiebaud: A Retrospective, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (2001); Franz Kline: 1910 – 1962, Castello di Rivoli, Turin, Italy (2005); Willem de Kooning: A Retrospective, MoMA, NY (2012); American Vanguards: Graham, Davis, de Kooning, and Their Circle, Addison Gallery of American Art, MA (2012).
